My Dying Bride

Few bands have shaped the landscape of doom metal as profoundly as My Dying Bride

Formed in Bradford in 1990, My Dying Bride emerged from the UK underground as one of the pioneering forces behind death/doom metal. Alongside fellow Northern Irish acts Anathema and Paradise Lost – later collectively dubbed the "Peaceville Three" – the band helped shape the second wave of doom metal, fusing its sombre atmosphere with elements of death and black metal. Their influence extended even further, with many citing My Dying Bride as one of the earliest and most important contributors to the development of gothic metal.

Their first full-length album, As the Flower Withers (1992), established the band's reputation, while subsequent releases such as Turn Loose the Swans (1993) and The Angel and the Dark River (1995) expanded and refined their distinctive sound.

My Dying Bride entered a new era with the release of Feel the Misery in 2015, a powerful reminder of the band's unmatched ability to weave crushing heaviness with heartbreaking beauty. A move to Nuclear Blast Records followed in 2017, alongside a series of line-up changes that saw familiar faces return and new blood strengthen the ranks, all while the band quietly worked on the next chapter of their story.

Behind the scenes, the years that followed brought significant personal challenges, yet My Dying Bride emerged with renewed purpose. The acclaimed The Ghost of Orion arrived in 2020 after the longest gap between studio albums in the band's history, showcasing a band unafraid to evolve while remaining true to the sorrowful grandeur that has defined them for more than three decades. Later that year, the haunting Macabre Cabaret EP further demonstrated their enduring creativity.

In 2024, My Dying Bride returned with A Mortal Binding, another monumental addition to their storied catalogue.

In April 2024, the band announced an indefinite hiatus to address personal matters, before confirming their return to live performances in December of the same year, including an appearance at Hungary's Rockmaraton Festival in 2025 with Mikko Kotamäki as a special guest.
