Strigoi

What began as two friends sharing a post Vallenfyre vision to create a distorted 'mixtape of misery' has evolved into a fully functioning group of like minded individuals. Strigoi was built around Mackintosh alongside Chris Casket (Ex Extreme Noise Terror and Vallenfyre), the project expanded into a full lineup featuring Guido Zima (Ex Paradise Lost and The Secret) on drums and Ben Ash (Ex Carcass) on guitar, allowing Strigoi to develop beyond its initial foundations.

“With STRIGOI, there’s a bit of spookiness, even some subtle elements of industrial and even black metal. The goal was to switch it up a bit. I was perfectly content with what I was doing in VALLENFYRE, but for STRIGOI to stand on its own, I wanted to try new things to separate ourselves from the pack.” - Gregor Mackintosh

The first Strigoi album ‘Abandon All Faith’ was recorded and mixed at Greg's Black Planet Studio in early 2019 and was released under Nuclear Blast Records to critical acclaim. The follow up, ‘Viscera’ was released in September 2022 via Season Of The Mist, with their last EP ‘Bathed In A Black Sun’ released shortly after in November 2022 which included four unreleased and exclusive songs from the ‘Viscera’ recording sessions.

Across Abandon All Faith and Viscera, Strigoi has continued to establish its own identity, moving from the raw intensity of its debut into a more fully realised statement of terror, malaise and extreme metal.
